What does it mean to be healthy nowadays?
Health. A theme that is always present in our lives and to which greater importance has been given, with the passage of time. Health is more than being free of disease: it implies general well-being. How is our mental health? Are we happy with ourselves? And with the people in our social circle?
What does it mean to be healthy?
According to the World Health Organization, Health is an outcome derived from physical, mental, and social well-being. It goes beyond the absence of disease. This trilogy of concepts must be worked on and cared for as a whole to achieve an optimal state of health.
Each of us has the possibility to experience life in the best way possible. The goals are the search for what makes us happy, what stimulates us and our purpose, with the right people by our side, with good nutrition and in an active way. With an eye on future generations, we pave the way for a greater understanding of how their futures will be impacted.
The combination of these factors will enhance your health.
The physical side of health is related to the absence of disease, but also to nutrition, physical activity, and also to our outer self.
We are what we eat, so the more balanced, varied, and nutritious our diet is, the better our performance, and this is one of the (well-known) secrets to a healthy and happy life.
Of equal importance is physical activity, already included in the basis of the Mediterranean Diet. It is very important to choose an activity with which we identify and that meets the benefits we seek. In this way, we can guarantee a greater likelihood of constant enthusiasm for the activity, increasing the will to get out of inertia.
The result of good exercise and good nutrition, combined with a good quality of life, can also considerably improve your health and well-being.
What about our outer self? It often ends up being a little neglected. Let’s make the mirror that friend we want to include in our circle. Because the mirror is our reflection, it is where we can see our outer self without filters and external judgments.
Being able to look at our outer self and like what we see has a great impact on our health, because it makes us care, want to take care of and protect ourselves. Whether, for example, to be able to achieve an appearance of longevity in life: to be young inside and out.
And what is the largest organ in our body that happens to be the most visible? Our skin!
Having healthy skin, whose hydration makes it rejuvenated and with a glow of its own, will allow the weight of age to be evident only in our life experience and wisdom.
The mental side of health relates to the inner self, to how we feel about ourselves and our life. Mental well-being means living fully, at our own pace, with low levels of anxiety and stress, balancing personal and professional life.
In this increasingly competitive world, the fast pace of life sometimes results in cases of burnout. We need to remember that we, as human beings, are the ones responsible, so rebalancing the rhythm is also something that needs to be worked on. Everyone is different, so how we treat our mental well-being also differs.

Finally, the social side of health has to do with the people who accompany us and with whom we relate.
Quantity does not always mean quality. So it is with relationships. It’s time to ask yourself some questions:
Do you have a large group of people with you, but in fact the connections that exist are superficial? You have a smaller group, but are they the people you can trust and who will always be there for you? Do you feel that you are unable to create new bonds?
The quality of our relationships influences the quality of our life and our well-being. By prioritizing our well-being, we can choose who we want and need to have in our circle. These are the people who will always want our best. And vice-versa.
Investing in our health and well-being is key to getting the most out of our lives and living life to the fullest.
